The next electronics recycling will be on Feb. 6th, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Central Facilities Recycling Drop-off Site, 13646 E. Ellsworth Ave., 303-739-7173 or auroragov.org/recycle. This is open to all Aurora residents and non-residents. All items free except cathode ray tube televisions ($20) each and cathode ray tube monitors ($10).
Recycling at Home
Curbside Collection Private companies provide trash collection for Aurora homeowners. Some companies may also provide curbside recycling services. Call the companies directly for details, including what items they may recycle. Cartons can now be recycled in the curbside program, for additional information click here. Recycling Drop-off Sites (***Also accepting political yard signs)Aurora's two city-owned recycling drop-off sites now require separation, which results in a product that is less contaminated by other materials than what results from single-stream recycling. Paper and magazines go into one bin, glass and plastics (numbered 1 through 7) go into another, and steel, aluminum, copper, brass and other metals may be placed in a 250-gallon tub on site. Political yard signs also are accepted; just place the signs in the plastics bin, and the metal frames in the scrap metal tub. Central Facilities Center (Separated Recycling)13646 E. Gun Club Road (at Hampden Avenue) 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday To reach the single-stream recycling drop-off point, proceed to the entry scale house and tell the attendant your destination. The attendant will provide you with a ticket for tracking purposes only. The DADS facility also charges a fee to accept home appliances and electronics, automobile tires and asphalt shingles. Paint Recycling
The Colorado Paint Stewardship Law is increasing the number of opportunities available for recycling paint, stains, lacquers, varnishes, and some other architectural coatings through a paint retail store take-back program. Please visit the PaintCare website and the CDPHE website for more information. There are limitations on how much paint you can drop off each visit, and not all retail stores will be accepting old paint for recycling. You may wish to contact the store directly to confirm business hours and their ability to accept the type of architectural coating you wish to recycle. Prescription Drug Disposal Aurora residents can dispose of most prescription medications through the Colorado Medication Take-Back Program. A secure collection box is located here in Aurora, at the King Soopers at 4271 S. Buckley Road. See this page for a list of accepted medications.
Cooking Oil Recycling
Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Behind Fire Station No. 9, 17200 E. Mexico Ave. This free event allows Aurora residents and non-residents to drop off used cooking oil from turkey fryers for proper disposal to divert the oil from municipal water systems and landfills. Oil must be kept indoors and warm so that it can be easily poured.
Christmas Tree Recycling

Disposal of Trees and Shrubs

Throughout the year, citizens who wish to convert tree and shrub trimmings into mulch have a few options in Aurora. You can try www.earth911.com.
Free mulch from routinely trimmed city-owned trees is available for self-loading near the intersection of East Hampden Avenue and Dawson Street, near the water treatment facility. The mulch pile is located outside, just off of Dawson Street on the west side. The site is accessible at any time, any day of the week. Bring your own shovel to load the mulch and containers or bags for loading. For questions about free mulch, call the Forestry Division at 303-739-7177. The city does not take tree trimmings from private citizens to make into mulch. Most trash companies will pick-up branch and tree debris, as long as the bundles of wood are no longer than 4 feet in length and 12 inches in diameter. Call and check with your residential trash hauling company. Most trash haulers will accept tree branches as long as they are cut, stacked and/or bundled in certain manners. As an alternative option, Aurora is served by two landfills; Denver Arapahoe Disposal Site at 3500 S. Gun Club Road and BFI Tower Road Landfill at 88th Avenue and Tower Road. The Forestry Division does take part in Christmas Tree Recycling each year.
