Red Tape Reduction Committee wants to hear from you

The Aurora City Council’s Red Tape Reduction Committee wants to hear about your experiences working through the city’s development planning, permitting, licensing and other business-related processes. Your input will help guide the committee, City Council and staff in analyzing opportunities for improvement or changes necessary to allow Aurora businesses to thrive and to ensure policies support the community as a whole.

There will be at least three public hearings for businesses, community groups and others to share their opinions, as well as an online feedback opportunity.

In order to ensure everyone has a chance to be heard, advance sign-up is required to participate in the public hearings:

·    8:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17 – Sign up

·    Noon Thursday, March 17 – Sign up

·    6 p.m. Wednesday, April 20 - Sign up

At this time, the public hearings are scheduled to be virtual events.

For those unable to attend a public hearing or who would prefer to leave their feedback in writing, go to EngageAurora.org/RedTape to provide input via a survey or idea boards. Feedback can be anonymous, but users are encouraged to register for Engage Aurora and sign up for project updates.

For more information about the Red Tape Reduction Committee and ways to engage, go to EngageAurora.org/RedTape.

History Museum seeking feedback on new exhibit

The Aurora History Museum and the Office of International and Immigrant Affairs will celebrate Aurora’s Mexican population with a new exhibition, “A Mosaic of Cultures: Aurora’s Mexican Community,” set to open from May 10, 2022, to April 16, 2023.

The new exhibit aims to increase awareness of the Mexican community’s contributions to the overall history of the city and highlight individuals, businesses owners, and their cultural traditions and history. The exhibit will showcase vibrant aspects of the community, such as popular music, art, dance, religion, and popular foods.

The Aurora History Museum understands the necessity of creating exhibitions that allow for greater community participation and invites community organizations and Aurora residents to guide this exhibit by sharing their ideas through the New Exhibit Survey on EngageAurora.org available through Feb 11.
